Daily Mail. School disciplines more than twenty pupils because their shiny black leather Kickers ‘didn’t meet requirements’.
I was hoping that there was a misprint in the above, but was disappointed.

Ah, I must confess I misread that post from Son of Scoop “their shiny black leather Kickers ‘didn’t meet requirements’.”
I thought they were shiny black leather knickers! (What on earth kind of school would that be???) A-L, I am relieved that your linked article made this clear…
I fear I must return soon to add a few pieces of ephemera here and there (for the “greater” good).

Please, please, come back soon. You have been dreadfully missed even while regular contributions from elsewhere continued. But now most of our contributors appear to have been abducted by aliens or met some similar fate and the situation can only be described as dire. So dire in fact that I may have to carry out my threat to post my encounter with leg smacking in the CP Survey thread! </div>

But be that as it may, a sudden thought, a quick search, and voila, some pictures of the surely totally unique shiny leather look school uniform at ‘that school’ in the 1970s, early 1980s do still exist on the web, including some whole school ‘official’ photos in the period concerned. But sorry, you’ll have to look for yourselves. Hint: The Wayback Machine sometimes fails to save thumbnails but does save the original pic. </div>
